This pink lake is just down from Kalbarri at the end of the coast road as it runs into the town of Northampton;  unfortunately the pink doesn't come out too well in the photo.  Believe me, it WAS very pink indeed.
One of the many mining trains we see in all sorts of unlikely places. This one near Mullewa.
We drove into Kalbarri which is quite a breathtaking experience as you go over a rise and there in all its glory are these wonderful views. We timed our visit so that we could vote here in the Federal election. We just popped into the local high school and there was a room especially for interstate people so we were in and out in a couple of minutes.  NO, we did not fill in all 110 squares in the Senate form!  Believe me, we wanted to, and judging by the Senate results, everyone should have done so!
We chose to stay in the riverside caravan park which turned out to be a good choice as we had a site overlooking the river and surrounding hills.  Incidentally, the road off the North West Highway into Kalbarri was a continual show of wild flowers so much so that we returned along it the next day to take photos. We also intended to take a 4WD into the National Park but broke down at the gate!!!  A passing motorist towed us for a jump start so we drove back to the van and David sorted it all out -  (dirty battery connections).
