There is no better place to be in winter time in Australia!  28 degrees most days which is just right for touring and exploring and even for a swim (preferably in a pool; the thought of meeting up with a crocodile is a touch daunting for most southerners!)
We tried a different caravan park down near Crystal Cascades. Beautiful scenery and an absolutely magnificent ablution block!

This lovely cafe right on Halloways Beach has a good menu and friendly staff.  We enjoyed lunch there with friends, John and Margaret.
David was very taken with this MG TC parked outside the cafe!!!
View from the cafe.
We enjoyed the beautiful drive up the coast and called in at Palm Cove, absolutely full of tourists (just like us!) enjoying the beach, the fishing and the lovely walk along the beach front amongst the trees and lush plants.
View from the lookout at Port Douglas. The train puffed past us whilst we were sitting looking out over the harbour taking hotel guests along into town.
David could not resist snapping off a couple of shots of the tanks outside the magnificent Armour and Artillery Museum just down the road from the caravan park.  We did visit this museum on our last visit.
During our stay in Cairns, a young couple turned up in their motor home towing this coffee cart. They set themselves up on a corner site and proceeded to keep us all supplied with refreshments each morning which kept their site costs paid and left them with afternoons to tour the local area.  They planned to go on up to Cooktown and then over the mountains to Atherton and on out into the country. Great plan!
