Not such a successful trip out to the whales this year.  The fellow below gave us a bit of a show, throwing himself (herself?) around and although we saw several pairs of whales just chugging along, a number of dolphins and one huge turtle floating around on top of the water, no whale came within 100 metres of being interested in us. However, the boat owner was thrilled with the Southern Right that was floating lazily with her calf just off the beach of Fraser Island.  They are a rare sight apparently.

We did the obligatory cycle down to the Urangan Pier (it's a VERY long way!! Not to mention the walk to the end of said pier which is 900 metres in length) The tide was way out, leaving a few puddles and the sand was interesting, especially above which shows hundreds of crabs living their busy lives.
The Caspian Tern on the right obviously found the watery bit at the end more interesting.
David enjoyed his little joke in the photo on the left.  (get it?)
On our way back we spotted this Osprey who flew back to this nest with a fish in his claws and has it on the branch ready to feed the family.
