Hoover Dam

We left Vegas in a very comfortable rental car and set off down yet another magnificent highway.  Just outside of the city we decided to visit and tour the Hoover Dam. Above is Lake Mead, America's largest man-made reservoir it can store 9.2 trillion gallons of water or nearly 2 yrs of the river's (Colorado) average annual flow.
This dam was completed in 1936 and opened by Roosevelt.  It provides irrigation, domestic water needs and low-cost hydro-electric power for use in Nevada, Arizona and California. Having seen the effects of the California drought situation I now know where their water comes from.  This dam feeds water to 20 million people in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, Tucson and other communities in Arizona and Nevada.  A truly awe-inspiring project.
More floor patterns for David!
