5 Winton to Tennant Creek - June 2022
Longreach Caravan park (this was just one section - it has been added to since our last visit and is LARGE!)
I tried, unsuccessfully, to take a photo of a 4 trailer road train with lights on at night while at Tambo. This one stopped at Barkly Homestead. The lights are not spectacular like some are and it has only 3 trailers but it was beautifully clean and shiny. Awsome machines
A mural in Winton where we stopped for coffee
The outback between Blackall and Longreach looks more like a garden after the recent rain (flooding "Wet")
The Gregory Hotel in Longreach
Barkly Homestead forecourt
We decided to take 5pm drinks at the restaurant bar in Barkly Homestead where we discovered Ell Regan setting up to entertain the clientelle.

A 7 year old girl, quite unabashed, took to the floor  to dance to the music. She was joined by her two sisters when Ell sang a song something about "riding shotgun".  All 3 girls knew all the words and were singing along. Ell had had difficulty trying not to burst out laughing. A special moment !
Syb informed us that there was a Trivia event at the Memorial Club the day we arrived at Tennant Creek. The theme was "Teachers and Pupils" organised by Syb's friend Merrin.

A great night was had with an  auction of donated parcels thrown in which helped raise $5000 for the local school
The countryside around Tennant Creek is pretty much stony desert with lots of spinifex and a few hardy trees. We packed a BBQ picnic and headed out into it every evening after Syb finished work to watch the sunset and the stars emerge
Cindy tried to get a photo to show the flowering shrubs and the endless straight road approaching Mount Isa.
