    3  Moree to Longreach - June 2022
The planned route to St.George was closed due to the flooded Condamine river.
We were forced to make a detour to Goondawindi and up to Miles
Tambo caravan park, in the middle of no-where. This shot does show the amazing bottle trees in this area.
From Moree we really did turn north and went straight up to a small town called Miles, about which the less said the better (enormous amount of mosquitoes which caused a few days of unpleasantness!) However, onwards and upwards to Mitchell.  Lovely country caravan park, lots of room and almost all spots had its own bathroom!  Just over this bridge was the above artesian pool.  You can tell which was the hot one and which the cold!  Cold being about 22 deg.  (David spotted this van at one park and loved  that it may "contain nuts")

Believe it or not, This is the Barcoo river that is legendary in the folk law of Australia
The caravan park at Mitchell had a great fire-pit. I decided to get the camp-oven and cook Ox-tail which I had bought at the great butcher shop in Mitchell.

A camper and his 6year-old son walked by while I was getting the fire going. The boy stopped and was fascinated by the flames. I commented to the dad that "all boys are fascinated by fire and that some of them never get over it !
The lake at Tambo
Tambo's claim to fame is that it is the site of the only fatal accident of Qantas
Tambo has this "art-work" representing the bales of wool being carted to market. (Could this have been the first road-train?)
