A lot of time at our Hervey Bay idyll was spent not doing much at all!  A great deal of sitting around, tootling off on bikes or going for a gentle stroll.  However, there were a few highlights. On the right is a photo of a ranger collecting one of the pelicans who live around our area of the beach and taking it off to have a number of fisherman's hooks removed. The bird was quite happy being carted off and was duly returned some days later right as rain and hook free.
Another trip to Chilvers was called for to attend their annual carnival.  The Bruce Highway was closed for the day! (A bit like closing the M1!!!  The trucks had to find their way through the back streets!)  Thousands arrived including Pauline Hanson and bodyguards we heard.
There were lots of entertainers at various stage set ups and these ladies were in attendance everywhere.  It was a very hot day and it was difficult to sit and watch for long unless you could find shade. This was the main stage and yet no shade was to be had so we had to move on.
One of the perks of being in Hervey Bay was being able to see Mike and Laura so we visited them and they visited us which worked very well.  Their garden is coming on a treat, thanks to a great deal of hard work by both of them.
David is 100% envious of Mike's home workshop!
The weekly BBQ at the caravan park, usually with "entertainers".  H'mm is my only comment.

The local bat population has trebled.  We keep being told they are a threatened species.  What a load of.....  They have ruined these trees and are busy preparing to move house down a bit further.  We watched them do so.
One day we cycled the whole way across the bay frontage to the pier, walked it and cycled back.  I needed to be resuscitated!
We decided to risk a theatre visit and were delighted we did.  Firstly we sat around in the bar with a drink, being entertained by a lovely young lady singing to us.  Then into the theatre.  The play was "And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie.  It was superb!  Enormous fun was had by all.  The theatre was packed and the ladies next to us drove us home! (We had walked there). Altogether a lovely experience.

We are booked in the caravan park for the same spot for next year.  It is a hard destination to beat.
